Treasured Scrapbooking Treasure Hunt

So I just finished my first layout for the Treasure Hunt at Treasured Scrapbooking.  I wanted to do something different rather than a serious layout but it just didn’t turn out the way I was envisioning!  I had every intention of using a larger picture but I couldn’t get it all to fit in the way I hoped.

The challenge requirements included:
- at least one circle (3 inches or bigger)
- torn paper
- only ONE photo
- journaling….and the journaling must include “I wish someone had told me that…”

The journaling reads:

10 Scrapping Facts I wish someone had told me that I should remember

Just do it! Scrap your memories not for a contest, not for a design team, not for anyone but you and your family.

For the last time, it’s OK to use flowers on a masculine layout!

Measure twice and cut once or it will eventually bite you in the a$$.

Buy at least 2 sheets of any patterned paper you love because when you to go use them you will find your children already have.

Don’t be a collector of scrapgoods, be a user!

Even though you’ve invested a ton of $$ buying the best camera and lenses, you will get bad pictures - use them anyways!

Don’t buy patterned paper packs. Inevitably, there will only be 1 or 2 sheets of paper you like and the rest will sit or be donated.

Don’t use floating embellishments - they need to be grounded or it will look like they are in outer space.

Scraplift! When you are stuck or need a boost in mojo, start lifting! Most likely your layout will look completely different.

Never drink and scrap because the next morning you’ll realize that things were not straight when you adhered them.

I’m trying to get ready for our trip tomorrow so I won’t even see the results until mid-week next week - let’s hope the next layout (assuming I make the next cut) goes a little quicker!!

Hope you’re having some scrappy fun!

So Sad!

I’m sad to report that I did not make the Bo Bunny design team :(  After awhile it just get’s depressing to try for manufacturer’s design teams.  There are really only a handful of them that I would want to design for as I love all their products - Bo Bunny, Dream Street, Daisy Bucket….

Anyway, here are the layouts I submitted for the design team call:

and here is my card:

I am working on my Treasured Scrapbooking layout for the Treasure Hunt.  I have it laid out and know what I’m going to do - just need to get it all put together!

Also getting ready to get started designing with the September Sussies kit - Lara has an awesome deal going on for even more prizes in the Year of the Sussies - she’s giving away even more prizes!!  You probably should check it out here if you haven’t already heard about it!

We’re getting ready to check out the fair this afternoon.  I might try to scrap a bit before we go!!  Hope your scrapping too!

(Oh, by the way I’m participating once again in the Willow Traders blog hop this weekend!  Hope you will too - there is tons of inspiration!).

More Sussies... Cosmo Cricket!

Remember all those stories that you used to hear about “the big one” or “the one that got away?” ….  actually I may have to start believing some of them!

I printed my pictures and started laying them out trying to figure out how to embellish the layout when I realized that this was probably the only fishing layout I was going to do about our trip (because, let’s face it, unless there’s a BIG fish in the picture, fishing pictures are pretty boring - and I didn’t have very many to begin with!). So somewhere on this layout I had to tell my story about my two big fish that both got away!

Since you can’t really read my journaling (I can write really small when I need to!)…  The first of my big fish I kept seeing near the side of the pond.  He knocked up against my bait a few times but just wouldn’t bite.  So just before we leave to go on a hike, something spooked it and it went tearing out into the deeper part of the water where it snagged my hook!  Not sure where exactly - may have been his mouth or tail.  Anyways, I reeled him in and DH was right there waiting and had his hands on him when all of the sudden he was back in the water!  DH had dropped him back in!  ARGH.  When we got back from our hike I saw that someone was walking around with my fish :(

My SECOND big fish story happened the next day.  I was just throwing my hook in with some concoction of bait that Alexa had put on the hook and talking to my dad.  Just a little throwing, walking and talking.  And all of the sudden my line goes tight and I yank to set the hook.  Then this HUGH fish jumps out of the water and snap my line leaving me with nothing.  I’m telling you, it must’ve been 15 or 20 inches long!  LOL

So here’s my layout.  I managed to fit all the journaling in although probably more succinctly than above!

Happy Scrapping!

OH, also wanted to mention that I am so excited to have made the first cut of the Treasured Scrapbooking Treasure Hunt!  I’m looking forward to a fun, challenging contest that will motivate me a bit!  Wish me luck!

Scrapbook Sussies August Kit!

Don’t you just love kits full of fun colors?  I know I do!  I had so much fun with this months kit…  I’m going to show two layouts today (I was running a bit late, so the first one I’m showing you I just created last night and today!):

I added the scalloped circle chipboard to highlight the kids.  I used the ribbon from the kit and made the centers for my flowers!  I will probably do the journaling in the blank orange spot.  Pictures are from my SIL (thanks Kim!) since I was at the CPR when the party was going on.  I did edit them a bit though!  (Sorry for the bad scan - I see the yellow background is all wonky!).

This one is pretty simple but I just LOVE the looks on the girls faces.  (The brads are not included in the kit.)  This is from our vacation in Red River when we went hiking one day.  Actually, this was the hike we took right after I missed catching the big one…   you’ll have to go read my post on the Sussies blog to hear more about that!  Or I’ll probably post it when I post my layout about it tomorrow!

Hope you are getting plenty of scrapping done!  I enjoyed the process last night while watching the first season of House.  Hoping to scrap some more tonight!!

Be sure and check out the Sussies blog!  Lara posted CHA pictures!

Happy Scrapping!
